The Pieces learning module is designed to provide Louisiana's new teachers understanding and assistance in planning instruction for the wide range of individual differences among learners. Access to the General Curriculum: Two Online Curricula

Job Accommodations: Multimedia Training Library

The JAN Multimedia Training Library provides training resources for JAN's users. These materials may be used in group training or by individuals. They may easily be incorporated into larger training events. Some resources are for general audiences, some are quite specific.  These programs include such topics as  (a) practical tips for providing and maintaining effective job accommodations; (b) the Americans with Disabilities Act and substance abuse in the workplace; (c) personal assistance services in the workplace; (d) examples of effective accommodations by businesses; and others.

Acquiring and Using Digital Text to Support UDL

This presentation focuses on using digital text to support Universal Design for Learning (UDL).  After a brief overview of UDL the presenter addresses the many ways digital text can be modified to support the diverse needs of the students in our classrooms.  Several resources for obtaining both copy written and public domain digital text are provided.  Emerging trends in the use of digital text such as eBook readers and open source textbooks are discussed.

Assessment and Accountability Systems: Teleconference Materials

Since 2001, NCEO has provided telephone conferences for State education agency personnel and others on various assessment and accountability topics such as (a) linking curricular content to State standards; (b) test accommodations; (c) low assessment scores for students with disabilities; (d) alternate assessments; (e) universally designed assessments; and others.  PowerPoints, handouts, other print materials, and links to resources from a large number of teleconferences are available.  (Located at the University of Minnesota, NCEO was established in 1990.  This work is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education.)
