Assessment Guided Education Modules

Five online modules are available on using assessment results to improve instruction -- particularly the results of large-scale assessments.  Titles are: (a) Introduction and Lay of the Land (explains how expertise in educational measurement can support teachers in continuously improving instruction); (b) Test Scores (describe types of test scores and test interpretation methods such as norm and criterion referencing); (c) Principles of Measurement (technical aspects of test quality, reliability, validity, fairness and methods of developing standardized tests; (d) What Does This Mean For My Classroom: (explains how teachers can effectively use the results of large-scale assessments; and (e) Specific Major Tests (information about the technical quality, content, and administration of commercially available K-12 assessments).  (The e-Learning Design lab is a center at the University of Kansas.  Development of these modules was supported by the U.S. Department of Education’s Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education.)
