The Building the Legacy training curriculum was produced by NICHCY at the request of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) at the U.S. Department of Education. The curriculum is intended to assist in understanding and implementation of the IDEA 2004 and its Part B regulations (published in 2006).

Each individual module includes:
• a slideshow for trainers to use;
• a Trainer's Guide explaining how the slides work as well as the content of the slides; and
• handouts for participants.

The classroom strategies presented in this program were selected from among those that have empirical evidence of effectiveness. The purpose of this condensed program is to describe student management programs that work effectively to prevent the future occurrence of antisocial behavior and resolve minor behavioral problems in the classroom. The English Language Learner KnowledgeBase is an online resource supporting education professionals in the administration and implementation of programs for English language learner (ELL) students.  It is divided into four components: (a) Resources for Program Administrators; (b) Resources for Teachers; (c) Resources for Parent Advocates, and (d) Resources for Educators of Migrant Students.  Each component is divided into several topical learning elements. (Located at the University of Oklahoma, the Mid-Continent Comprehensive Center is a regional technical assistance center funded by the U.S. Department of Educationâ?s Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.)

These modules were developed to enable district teams to meet their increasing professional development needs in a flexible as-needed manner. While the modules will not provide all the information that you need to implement Response to Intervention effectively, they will provide an awareness of each of the key components and materials to help staff understand how Response to Intervention is consistent with many instructional and leadership initiatives: Personal Literacy Plans, Secondary Reform, Special Education Eligibility, Professional Learning Communities. This resource is a 508 compliant presentation featuring searchable presentation captioning and video, navigation points, and synchronized, downloadable accompanying materials.
